Sports News: The fifth and final Test between India and England at The Oval has reached a thrilling stage. England needs only 35 more runs to win, but due to bad light and rain, the game was stopped on Day 4, and stumps were called early. Now, the result of this thrilling match will be decided on the final day.

Brook’s Missed Wicket Turned the Game

India started Day 4 with confidence. They had already taken one wicket and were hoping to take more quickly. But a big turning point came when Harry Brook got a chance and India failed to grab it. On a delivery by Prasidh Krishna, Brook hit the ball to fine leg, where Mohammed Siraj caught it, but while taking the catch, Siraj’s foot touched the boundary line. Instead of getting out, Brook got six runs. That moment changed the direction of the game.

After that, Brook played an aggressive innings. He scored a brilliant 111 runs from just 98 balls, hitting 14 fours and 2 sixes. His fearless batting pushed India onto the back foot.

Joe Root Joins the Party

Former England captain Joe Root played another excellent Test innings. He supported Brook very well, and the two added a 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Root played a calm and classy knock, reaching his 39th Test century, scoring 105 runs from 152 balls with 12 boundaries.

Together, they made the Indian bowlers struggle. The Indian team’s energy started to drop, and their fielding lost sharpness. It looked like England would finish the match before Day 4 ended.

India Had a Good Start in the Morning

Earlier in the day, Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope gave England a steady start. Duckett scored a brisk 54 off 83 deliveries, while Pope added 27 from 34 balls before being dismissed by Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj, respectively. After that, it was the Brook-Root show all the way.

Brook finally got out at a team total of 301, caught by Siraj off Akash Deep. But by then, the damage was already done. England now needed just 73 more runs to win.

Final Drama: Rain and Light Interrupt the Match

Root completed his century in the third session while batting with Jacob Bethell. Bethell was later dismissed for 5, and soon after, Root also fell to Prasidh Krishna. At that point, England was at 339/6, needing just 35 more runs.

Just when things were getting close, bad light stopped play. A little later, rain began, and the umpires called off the day’s play. It was a big relief for India, as the game was clearly slipping away.

India’s Strong Second Innings Effort

India posted 224 runs in their first innings, while England replied with 247. In the second innings, India made a strong comeback with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 118 and Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar adding 53 each to post 396 runs. However, England has almost chased it down.

Now, all eyes are on Day 5. Will India take the final 4 wickets in time, or will England cross the finish line?
